The sonic waves (easily audible) are effective at repelling mosquitoes because they imitate the sounds made by males, which scare away females - it is they who bite in search of blood for the development of eggs. This method is more effective than ultrasound, but it can be audible and cause discomfort to some people.

The ultrasonic mode is completely inaudible to the human ear, but its area of ​​​​effect and effectiveness are smaller than that of the sonic mode.
